Kingsnorth supreme as OCs beat the School
The annual Roger Loveland memorial match took place at the school on OC Day (July 4) with a young but talented side playing against an true OC side whose average age was 22, notwithstanding one of the OCs age exceeding the combined total of any three of the school side.
The hugely-talented schoolboys were so confident in winning that the trophy was kept in the common room and so could not be presented when the OC team redressed the balance from last year’s inaugural match with a 4–2 win.
Courtesy of Paddy Harman’s sterling efforts in putting together an experienced, albeit a young, team paid dividends who managed to over turn an early two-goal deficit to level the scorer by half time and snatch two late goals to run out the winners. The scourge of the OCs last year was Ross Kingsnorth, the 2009 school skipper, in goal and in 2010 he did not disappoint by winning the Man of the Match again to thwart the school who were unable to convert the pressure they exerted into goals !
Next year’s game will once again take place on OC Day at the school with a ladies v school match to follow the mens game.
Thank you to Richard Organ and Dave Boggitt for making the match happen and hopefully the trophy will appear from somewhere ...
