1st XI face Yately in play-offs

Old Whitgiftians won their final match of the season, beating HAC 4-1, and so secured the Surrey Division One title. That result means that we now face a play-off against the runners-up in Hampshire, Yately, at Haslemere HC on Sunday, April 29. It would be good to have as much support as possible down there, and more details will follow nearer the time.

Its YATELEY, or the mighty Yateley if you so wish :-)

The issue is not its or its is. It's about calling Yately/Yateley mighty that is the real error ...

Indeed, though not sure would put mighty in front of Yateley. And yes played against you many times to be able to comment. Game on !!29th April from the Wight Raider

Ahh, and so the sledging begins...

'Wight' Raider - If that pertains to Isle of Wight then the (mighty) Yateley have not struggled to a south-of-the-solent team for a LOOONG time.

By all means, lower your expectations of us...it will just make the Victory all the sweeter!! ;o)

The shame is that the debate cannot he held on the Yateley club website because ... they don't have one! Oh dear ...

Haha, nans and the internet are never gonna be a good mix...

First, you have to spell it correctly when you Google, then look at more than just the first result - You'll find that makes the whole scary inter-webby-thingy a lot easier... ;o)

Oh yes, thanks. A great website it is as well .... has it been updated since the start of the season?

Interesting that Yateley have their summer ball on the night before the match. Hope all the players will be tucked up in bed by 11pm.

Yes from the Isle of Wight originally though been a little while since I played against you boys. Did surprise me that didn't beat them by more as know they are struggling for decent players there at the moment. Have you cut down on yr green and yellow cards!! u boys always did like a bit of a physical game luckily I was built for that....I did enjoy scoring and beating you boys lets hope it continues on the 29th. all the best from the Wight Raider

don't tell me you boys had the camera at Richmond as well. A Ok result if you weren't watching we had the pick of chances in first.. half under the cosh in second. But missing a couple of starters in the engine room and only having eleven didn't help but all good prep prior to 29th. You boys coming to watch us play on Thursday? Maybe we can return the favour when are you playing and we can pop down! Or is the game behind closed gates. laters Wight Raider

I hear Yateley had a warm game last saturday, waiting for our roaming reporter to come back with video evidence. Some one said they lost 5-0 against table topping winners. Anyone at Yateley wish to comment.

As a Yateley old boy and a current Richmond player I must apologise for our performance against you guys. We did play like an Isle of Wight team for most of the game. Looking forward to the banter on Sunday, i'll be the guy on the sideline trying to distract your rather rotund centre forward with pork pies and Big Macs!

I was trying to be slightly complimentary when I said "good result against Richmond". However, that said, they played like toss, and one of your guys nearly stuck one in the Thames from 5 yards out!! Yep, we were watching.

For the record, yep, we sucked against the Andover butchers but we were missing half a team, plus we had 12 and they had 16 players. I'm not sure if you're allowed to own cars if you live in Andover, so they may not make it along to our game. :-)

Anyway, let the best team win (That will be Y-A-T-E-L-E-Y). Looking forward to it, seriously, lets have a good contest.

Banter over.....its been fun. Bring it on !

I hope some good flowing hockey will be played.

What an immense game. Sorry there had to be a loser, but you guys did yourselves proud, pushed us all the way and were gracious in defeat. I hope we'll be seeing you boys in a couple of seasons battling it out in Hants/Surrey.

Back to my stinking hangover......

RED ARMY !
